Earnings for new journeypeople vary across Canada

Statistics Canada has released information on employment income and mobility among new journeypeople, based on 2019 figures. Journeypersons who certified in 2018 had a median employment income of $60,450 in 2019, one year after certification, and were less likely than ever before to move to another province than past journeypeople. Despite higher wages in Western Canada, income actually dropped from 2018 levels, while median income grew in Quebec and Atlantic Canada.
