Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver are just three of the cities that have joined a global coalition of cities pledging urgent, coordinated action on extreme heat, one of the most dangerous impacts of climate change. The Cool Cities Accelerator was launched during the C40 World Mayors Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and is designed to help urban leaders protect residents, safeguard economies, and redesign cities in a more climate resilient manner by 2030. There are 33 founding cities to the Accelerator, representing more than 145 million people around the world.
