Government initiatives show a commitment to advancing skilled trades

The federal government’s new Skilled Trades Apprenticeship Service and Program is designed to help small- and medium-sized employers (SMEs) hire new first-year apprentices at level 1 in 39 Red Seal trades, while helping apprentices gain work experience. Read more here.

The move coincides with the province’s decision to mandate that students pass a technological education course to receive their high school diploma, beginning with students entering Grade 9 in September 2024. Read more here.
